World Bank

The World Bank is the world’s largest development agency and has been invovled in malaria control for some years.  Its track record has been mixed however and it failed to devote the $300-$500 million for malaria control as it announced in Abuja in 2000. Its Global Strategy and Booster Program for malaria control acknowledged its shortcomings and recommitted the Bank to spending another $500 million over five years to control malaria. It approved $357 million through January 2007 in grants and loans for malaria control.
