Spain to donate Shs.5b for malaria

The government of Spain will donate over five billion shillings towards the global fight against malaria in this year.

The visiting Spanish deputy Prime Minister Maria Teresa Fernandez made the announcement during an inspection tour of Amref Community based health care projects in Kibera.

She was accompanied by Health Minister Charity Ngilu and area Member of Parliament Raila Odinga.

The deputy Prime minister who arrived in the said her visit to Kibera would help design projects geared to helping the residents.

Health minister Charity Ngilu and area member of parliament Raila Odinga decried the congested living conditions in the slum, saying it was difficult to rid oneself of diseases like Tuberculosis, even with treatment.
