Health Deputy Minister, JosĂ© Van-DĂșnem said this Friday, here, that it is essential to vaccinate children from zero to five years of age due to high number of deaths registered in this age group caused by measles, malaria, anaemia, malnutrition and poliomyelitis, fundamental factors of child death in Angola.

Speaking to the press concerning the holding of the "Live life with health" national vaccination campaign from 05 to 09 and 12 to 26 July, the government official reaffirmed the need to immunise all children in order to reduce infant mortality in the country by 50% until the year 2008.

"Included in the national strategic plan for the Accelerated Reduction of Maternal-Infant Mortality for the period between 2005-2009, the campaign expects to reinforce the covering of routine services especially carried out in areas of difficult access, as well as the poor health coverage, through fixed posts or advanced health units", stressed the Deputy Minister.
